Find a Fake Edge — the data-mining demo
Reality Check · how noise fools you

Find a fake edge

This market is pure chance — a coin-flip with no edge hidden in it anywhere. Now play the game every strategy-hunter plays: keep trying strategies and keep the best one. Watch a convincing "winner" appear out of thin air… then watch it do nothing on the part of the market it never saw.

Go hunting

Try a batch of strategies on a no-edge market, keep the best-looking one, then see the truth.

The market it was found in — a coin-flip that goes nowhere, no edge in it at all:

How it works: the market is pure chance — random ups and downs with no edge, and with any lucky drift removed so it truly goes nowhere. Each strategy is a random trading rule. We keep whichever did best on the first ~60% of the market, then run that exact one on the last ~40%, which it never got to see. The green part is a fit to noise; the red part is the honest result. Keep hunting and the green grows while the red stays put. A teaching demo — not a comment on any real strategy. Not advice.
