This site is run by Richard Hodgson, a sole trader in the United Kingdom trading as Point of Control. Richard Hodgson is the data controller for the information described below. Point of Control is a trading name, not a separate company.
To ask about anything here, or to ask for your data to be removed, contact privacy@pointofcontrol.app.
Every tool on this site works without an account. We don’t use tracking cookies, we don’t run advertising, we don’t sell data, and we don’t share it with anyone for marketing.
Using the site involves a small amount of ordinary technical data — the sort any web server records — plus anonymous usage statistics that can’t identify you. If you choose to create an account, we also process your email address and any scenarios you save.
All the tools, lessons and glossary work with no account and no email address. If you never sign in, we hold no information that identifies you.
Two things are stored by your browser in that case, and neither is sent to us:
| What | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
poc-theme | Local storage | Remembers whether you chose light or dark |
poc_scenarios | Local storage | Plans you save in “My scenarios”, kept on your device only |
Both exist because you asked for them — a theme you selected, and work you chose to save. You can clear them at any time in your browser settings. Clearing poc_scenarios deletes any plans saved without an account.
We use Plausible Analytics. It does not use cookies, does not store anything in your browser, and does not collect personal data. It records aggregate totals so we can tell which tools people actually use.
Our analytics use no browser storage of any kind — no cookies, no local storage, no session storage, no identifiers.
The complete list of what is recorded:
| Event | What it tells us |
|---|---|
tool_opened | Which tool page was opened |
tool_used | That someone interacted with a tool |
verdict_shown | Which of the four “Real or Noise?” verdicts was reached |
lesson_opened | Which lesson was opened |
glossary_term_opened | Which glossary term was opened |
internal_link_clicked | That someone moved from one kind of page to another |
email_signup | Reserved for the planned email signup — not active |
outbound_click | Reserved for external links — not active; there are none |
We do not record the numbers you type into any tool, the results a tool produces, your inputs alongside your verdict, how far you scroll, where your mouse moves, or anything that identifies you. There are no session recordings. We can see totals, never an individual person’s activity.
Like any website, POC runs on servers that keep ordinary access logs. These are generated by our hosting provider as a normal part of delivering pages and can include IP addresses, timestamps and which page was requested. We do not use these logs to build a picture of individuals, and they are not combined with anything else.
Accounts are optional and exist for one reason: so scenarios you save follow you between devices.
To delete your account and everything in it, email privacy@pointofcontrol.app. Deleting the account deletes the saved scenarios with it.
We intend to add an optional email signup. It does not exist yet. There is currently no mailing list, and no way to subscribe. When it launches:
This section will be updated when that goes live.
| Service | What it does | Status |
|---|---|---|
| Supabase | Stores accounts and saved scenarios, and handles sign-in | Active |
| Vercel | Hosts the site; produces the server logs described above | Active |
| Plausible Analytics | Anonymous usage statistics; no cookies, no browser storage | Active |
| Resend | Delivers sign-in code emails | Active |
| Resend | Will also deliver the planned email updates | Planned |
Your account details and saved scenarios are held in a database hosted in London, in the United Kingdom.
Our other providers are international companies running global infrastructure, so some data — such as the technical logs described above, and the email address a sign-in code is sent to — may be processed outside the UK. Where that happens it is covered by the data-processing terms we have with those providers.
We do not sell data, share it with advertisers, or use it for advertising or profiling. POC carries no advertising and no affiliate links.
The only cookies POC sets are the ones that keep you signed in, and they are only set if you sign in. They are strictly necessary for a service you have explicitly asked for.
Our analytics use no cookies and no browser storage, so there is nothing here to consent to and no cookie banner.
Under UK data protection law you can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, to delete it, to restrict how we use it, or to object to our using it. There is no charge and we will respond within one month.
Contact privacy@pointofcontrol.app.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
POC is not aimed at children and we do not knowingly collect data about them.
If this policy changes we will update the date at the top, and note anything material on this page.
